3 Things to think about before you pick your Wedding Date

Choosing a wedding date is probably the most important planning decision that you'll have to make. Once that proposal occurs, you need to start thinking about all the factors that you will need to consider when you make that ultimate decision. Furthermore it will impact every other decision for your day, your invites, your bridals, your honeymoon and your. This decision will also be difficult for the main reason that you need to take everyone who will be involved into account. This will be a choice that will also have to work for everyone and their schedules.

Below we outline some of our favorite tips when it comes to making this decision. Here are 3 tips that will help you feel confident in picking the perfect date to say, “I do!”

1. Take the season and weather into account

There are so many pros and cons when it comes to deciding on the month/season for your wedding day. Some people might be entranced with an off season month, for the fact that popular vendors will not be in high demand and therefore more available. Nevertheless, those off-season months are cheaper and more available for a reason. The weather usually plays a factor in these undesirable off season dates. Whether it be extremely hot, or extremely cold, that already diminishes the hope for an outdoor venue dream. Nobody wants to be wearing huge heavy coats or sweating all of their makeup off. This leads in to your options for locations becoming a lot smaller. When it comes to the more popular seasons which is spring and fall, this is where time management can help you succeed in the pros out weighing the cons! Yes, the vendors will be more expensive and the date options will be less available but you might be getting the wedding of your dreams. If these seasons have been your goal when deciding on a wedding date, we just highly recommend planning as far out as you can. Once you solidify that date, even if it’s a year out, you will have so much more time and confidence in securing the rest of your vendors and manifesting that beautiful wedding day you have been dreaming about since you were little. All in all, the season and the weather will always play a large roll when picking your wedding date.

2. Deciding on which day of the week to choose for your day!

Saturday, hands down, is the most popular day of the week to get married. Fridays are a close second and I would say Sundays are a god third. Saturdays have the appeal of people having work off, so that they may be able to attend your special day. Saturdays also give the potential of out of state friends and family the easy option to travel to you from wherever they might be. However wanting to plan your wedding day on a Saturday drives up the price of wedding venues and most likely the rest of your desired wedding vendors. If you insist on getting married on a Saturday, just take your budget into account and prepare to pay more that you might have to in order to reserve your venue for the Saturday spot.

Now, If you're more flexible about the day of the week, why not get married on a Friday, Sunday or even mid-week? This can save you lots of money, but sadly could also impact your family and friends attendance. So think about this tip and weigh your options carefully.

3. Keep your Honeymoon Travel plans in mind

A lot of the time couples swiftly forget to take into account their honeymoon plans when deciding on their wedding date. Your honeymoon is in a way just as special as your wedding day and actually a lot more intimate. This is your first trip as newlyweds and the memories you will want to create there should be relaxing and easy. Our tip is really try to envision and decide where you will want to take your honeymoon. Wether it be somewhere tropical and quiet or somewhere historical and busy, this all comes down to your preference and ultimately your budget as well. So when you are discussing your potential wedding dates, think about what it will be like in the location of your honeymoon. What will the weather be like there? Will it be peak tourist season? Will the hotel/air BnB rates be over the top and outrageous? Will it be during a holiday? Your honeymoon date matters so much when it comes to creating those beautiful memories for you and your partner. If your dream is jetting off on your honeymoon the day after your wedding day, then you'll need to choose a wedding date the coincides with your travel plans.
